About the Author
Diana Hendry is a poet and the author of numerous stories for young readers, including Harvey Angell, winner of the Whitbread Children's Novel Award. Among her other titles for young readers are the picture book Dog Dottington and the chapter books Fiona Says...; Wonderful Robert and Sweetie-Pie Nell; Flower Street Friends and Midnight Pirate, Midnight Party. She is also the author of novels for older readers, including Double Vision and Minders and two volumes of poetry, one for adults and one for children. John Lawrence has contributed to over one hundred books for children and adults as an illustrator and wood-engraver. Classic Christmas story

This story gives a practical description of Life and what matters most in a life of real difficulty and generosity. Bear one another's burdens we are exhorted but today Christmas seems to be so egotistical and focused on a Hallmark image that real life and real people are left out of the picture. Christmas on Exeter Street reminds us that Christmas is welcoming others into our lives with love, kindness and generosity that manifests the presence of Jesus in our heart.

Favorite Christmas book

We love this book at our house. It's out of print, sadly. If you can find one, its worth a look! Such a cute story about the woman who takes everyone in on Christmas Eve and finds a place for each one, even utilizing shelves and mantels. So cute!

Childhood favorite

My cousin read me this book when I was four, and years later I was still asking for "the story with the baby in the sink." I am so glad I finally got my own copy. I especially enjoy the detailed illustration of where everyone in the house is sleeping.
