These books were readily available in our veterinary anatomy laboratory. The images provided a very clear description of various structures, and also provided a way in which this information is clinically relevant. Definitely a book to keep on the shelf during clinical year rotations.

About the Author

Not what the title says.

The title is wrong. It is more a review guide for CCNA and less a command guide. The book has no index of commands so if you are looking for a command that you don't recognize, you must know what process is associated with the command first to have any hope of finding it quickly in this book. It is organized in a "how to" fashion as opposed to a command dictionary as the title would imply to me. It has been of little use and a waist of money unless you are just starting your first class of Cisco and need a study guide. Then it might be useful.

Very helpful book

I bought this book the second semester into the CCNA program at my local community college at the recommendation of the instructor. I have used this book non-stop in my CCNA classes and even was allowed to use it for our skills based final exam in the final class of the CCNA series. Very well laid out, and even shows optional commands that you don't use in the Cisco Net Academy but you may run into in the 'Real World'. Keep in mind this is for the Cisco propitiatory IOS which runs on Cisco Routers and Switches. My only gripe about this book is the lack on an index. It does have a good Table of Contents, but you still need to hunt down what you are looking for (more time consuming when you are not really sure what category it is under). I suppose the eBook version would have an advantage here as a simple find would make things easier to well...find.

Wish I would have bought this for my CCNA studies.

I purchased this for a desk-top quick reference as a network administrator.

This is a great companion for anybody that has to work on Cisco equipment. It covers quite a bit of material.

The reason I gave only 3 stars were because there is no digital copy available with the purchase of the hard cover. I would love to have this thing on my IPAD. Considering the fact that everything is going digitial, I honestly thought ciscopress would have given a digital copy with the book. They offer a free 45 day online only version through Safari books but I've already paid for the book. I should be given a PDF copy automatically.

One of the Most Detailed, Comprehensive, and Thorough Books I've Read

Many Kinsey followers will judge this book on their emotions alone, for they obviously have based their core being on their sexuality and have counted on Kinsey to justify their behaviors as an identity. Reisman does an excellent job explaining the fraudulent methodology behind Kinsey's "research" and backs it up with irrefutable evidence. She also explains in a very logical sequence of events how Kinsey's destructive research has infiltrated the hearts and minds of the people. We are talking about the whole picture here. Kinsey was a complete fraud, and his fraud was funded heavily by elites (Rockefellers) then propagated to make us believe that his science was something we already are, when that wasn't the case at all.

Astounding!
By Old Enough to Know Better
If this book is even 50% accurate we have been the victims of a tragic case of following a corrupt leader. Based upon this book and other information regarding Kinsey I tend to suspect that this book is far more than 50% accurate.

Kinsey claimed to be a legitimate researcher, objectively studying sexual behavior. From a number of sources the picture is painted of a researcher that was sexually abusive to himself and others. Kinsey's objectivity is questionable if, indeed, he was sex addicted and trying to normalize his own behavior through his work.

Judith Reisman words are worthwhile and obviously spoken from sincerity. She pulls no punches and says what needs to be said. I'm surprised by how much even my own values have been swayed over the years but reading this book is a major reality check. Everything she said rings true to my experience. When I was a child, my elders, not just within the family, but those I encountered in school or everyday life, were sexually very conservative. The Greatest Generation that she speaks about were, at least in my estimation, very down to earth and had high standards. In line with what she said in her book, the disease rates and teen pregnancy rates bear this out. Kinsey tried to paint a different picture and thereby made that Greatest Generation look like hypocrites.I think it comes down to revisionism for the benefit of "normalizing" his own behavior. My generation was more likely to be sexually active as teens than my parent's generation but it was still relatively uncommon and anyone that dared try was unlikely to be worried about STDs; they were effectively non-existent in our age group. If my generation was thusly restrained the WW II generation could only have been even more so.

Most people coming of age in our day never learn any degree of sexual self-control and this is an absolute necessity within a long term relationship. A lot of men these days can't even imagine a few month's celibacy when their wife in in the late stages of pregnancy or directly after childbirth. I can't imagine my father or either of my grandfathers demanding a hall pass to cope with such a situation, yet that is not unknown in our day.

Nowadays sexual techniques are published in women's magazines sold at the checkout line of the supermarket. One could easily get the impression that sexual satisfaction requires years of study and practice to achieve, but the generations before ours didn't see things this way. I see it all as a mosaic of social pressures that have moved couples away from intimacy and love and in the direction of maximizing sensation instead. No one can live on cake alone, but some of these relationships are trying to survive on the icing, not to mention the cake. The emotional nutrition of intimacy doesn't seem to be on many people's radar anymore.

Sexual Sabotage, IMO, hits it on the head. Things have changed drastically in the last 60 years or so and Kinsey's misleading research has been a big part of it. There's much more freedom, but I don't think that there's all that much satisfaction. I was taken in by it to some degree, in spite of a strong moral background. But, even before reading this book I've noticed that some people seem to believe that they must live up to the mantra of the sexual revolution, even though it has not yielded positive results in their lives. You can almost see it when they speak, as they mentally review their thoughts before speaking lest they accidentally go contrary to the social norm as they perceive it.

In my opinion, we have been sold a bill of goods regarding sex and Dr. Reisman's book helps to explain this. There may be more freedom today, but there is also more divorce, more disease and more people without a mate, living from encounter to encounter. Kudos to Dr. Reisman for standing against the tide and exposing Kinsey for what he truly was.

Highly recommended if you find the current social climate distressing for its lack of morality.

Sheds light on fake research

I wasn't sure what all was in this book, and now I am very glad I got it- It shows, with Kinsey's own charts, the "subjects" of his so-called studies, on children as young as 2 months old. No valid researcher on human sexuality would 'test' subjects like this. Also lists those who provided the research - pedophiles, rapists, and prostitutes (aka "everyday married women") This shows plainly that Kinsey's research is a fraud perpetrated on the American society, with SEICUS and Planned Parenthood using Kinsey's research as a basis for their 'education', and normalization of deviant behavior. I highly recommend this book.

Asserting that Aristotle's Poetics has become a standard for constructing movies that reach audiences (and studio heads), Tierno, a director and Miramax story analyst, shows how to apply the basics of the great work to one's own screenplay. He introduces the "Action-Idea" as the way to understand the demands of the story, and debunks the belief that, in Poetics, Aristotle mandates a three-act structure. He also lays bare how people misread Aristotle's advice to employ the "imitation of a serious action." Tierno stresses the importance of ditching subplots for a story featuring "one complete action" and constantly supports his points with examples of successful films, such as Titanic and Rosemary's Baby. The frequent capsule plot summaries of favorites including The Godfather and Gladiator make Aristotle's instructions concrete, and Tierno helpfully breaks the movies down into plot essentials. Throughout, he is respectful but informal toward Aristotle. A real find! Inspiring and practical, too

Many screenwriting gurus say "Everything you need to know about how to write good drama is in Aristotle's Poetics," but then they never explain what's actually in that work! I've tried reading Aristotle's original text, but it is really tough going. Tierno's book is a real find - it boils down a rambling, classics text into concise concepts, tips and techniques that I could understand and use. Tierno provides examples of how all this stuff really works in a variety of films, too. This book is not only practical, but pretty inspiring, too. It gets to the "heart" and "roots" of good drama, something you can forget about when you get bogged down with a script. After reading this, I was excited and motivated to return to my own work.

Concise dramatic instruction

This book is useful for fiction writers as well as screenwriters. The author interprets Aristotle's ideas and suggestions and then renders them with examples into language applicable to modern drama. Many of Aristotle's original ideas are quoted and have timeless power. For example: "Beginners succeed earlier with Diction and Characters than with the construction of a story."

Tierno relates how the parts of a modern script evaluation (Log Line, Brief, Plot Summary, Comments, Idea, Story, Character, Dialogue, and Production Values) mirror Aristotle's examination of the same elements. I especially liked how the film "Gladiator" was used for the example of "the mistake in a hero's reasoning, leading to the hero's subsequent related misfortunes."

The short length makes the book a fast but powerful read.

A great way to introduce Aristotle's Poetics.

If you are (or want to be) a serious screenwriter, you probably already know names like Robert McKee, Syd Field, Linda Seger, David Trottier and even David Bordwell...

The good thing about Mr. Tierno's book is that it goes back to the one fundamental text who, 2300 years before the birth of Cinema, already thought about many of the things all other screenwriting authors still talk about - what do we do in order to achieve higher drama?

And it is surprising how fresh Aristotle still sounds today, according to Mr Tierno's reading. Even if we consider that the object of Aristotle's thought was not the Cinema, but the Classical Greek Theatre - or the mimetic form of representation.

In fact, there is nothing new about Aristotle (or Cinema, or narrative, or screenwriting) here besides the fact that Mr. Tierno does an accurate reading of the great greek thinker and explains many of his key concepts.

In a nutshell, this book is an excelent reminder of how important, necessary and universal, good drama can be. Also it is a great reminder that screenwriting is a natural heir of most of storytelling's past traditions.

It is also a proof that screenwriting is an art form by itself.
