Having had a lot of the standard corporate training on communication I found this book to be a well needed breath of fresh air. It is concisely written and contains practical exercises you can use to test the principles for yourself immediately. I wonder when the 2nd installment will arrive?

Couldn't force myself to finish it

I only made it through 4 chapters in this book and couldn't go any further. The book started out well enough, and I wanted to like the characters, but I didn't connect with them. Maribel came off so boring. She spends all her time alone reading even when her friends invite her out, and after closing on Valentine's weekend when the rest of the staff is dancing together, she just cowers by the register. I'm sorry, but there was nothing remotely interesting about her. When Miles offers her wine, she turns up her nose and forces herself to taste it, and when he introduces her to a new dish, she refuses to even try it like the bore that she is. Meanwhile she has absolutely no problem wearing the expensive jewelry he bought her. There was just no reason why this gorgeous billionaire was interested in her.

Miles on the other hand, I don't know why, but I kept picturing him as an old guy (Michael Douglas or James Caan old) even though he shouldn't have been over 38. So this image wouldn't allow me to feel any chemistry between Maribel and Miles. Then he got several business calls throughout their time together, and he just kept answering the phone, which is just plain rude.

Anyway, I just thought the characters were annoying. I also didn't like how the story started switching POVs around chapter 2 or 3 even though it started out with each POV clearly separated, that just threw me off, and I just couldn't take it anymore.

2.5 stars Too many questions remained

This book has a lot of sex and very little storyline. They storyline I liked but had a hard time liking the characters. The H was so use to getting his way (as billionaires probably do) and he seemed to just give orders and expect Maribel to follow them. I didn't understand the h at all. She works a lot of hours per week, has been at her job for 10 years, takes the train to work, and still has no money? Are they paying her minimum wage? If she is still paying off medical bills then I must have missed that part of the book.
Also, the author has a interesting term when describing a woman's vagina....and it is a TOTAL turnoff! It was used several times. Almost to the point of me not wanting to finish the book.
I loved her friends in the apartment building! Every one needs friends who are genuine and a little off center to keep your life interesting!The Melrose Place party was hysterical!
I did have a few questions: If he knew so much about what was happening in her life, why didn't he know she had been suspended? Why didn't he ask her boss about why she abruptly took leave?
I didn't like the fact that we never found out what happened with the missing bracelet or if anything was done about the ex-girlfriend.

Quick, delightful read!

I loved the story of Miles' whirlwind courtship of the demure Maribel. Although the story is relatively short, the characters and plot line are fully developed. I enjoyed reading the story from both characters' perspectives, and felt like I could fully understand the emotions that drove each character's actions.

I did notice several issues with missing words and the use of improper homonyms, so a re-edit would be beneficial, but the errors were not enough to jarr me out of the world the author created. I'll definitely be recommending this to friends.

great technical book

I was required to have this book for a medical lab urinalysis class. The book is organized well and is fairly easy to read for a textbook. You don't get bogged down to heavily in the technical verbage. The color photos are great along with the descriptions. Some basic info is included at the beginning of the chapter to jog your memory if you don't remember your anatomy and physiology. The index is very useful and the glossery of terms was helpful for quick reference. The charts are nice and help to differentiate between similar testing results. I enjoyed reading this book and plan on keeping it for future reference. The only thing that might have made it better would be a hardback version. Being paperback it "flopped" around somewhat.

It is a low level read compared to my other mlt books but has great reference info that has helped me in much more than my Urine class over the years! Don't like that its paper back because I'm pretty rough with my books but at least its cheaper.

If you are doing anything involving urine specimens you need this book. It goes into details about every aspect of the urine. Weather it is low values or high values, this book breaks it down where anyone can understand it. Learned a lot from this book.

A very good read.

Really liked this book. As the story unfolds it becomes more and more believable. Also, I like the author's description of it as a naughty book, it's a better description than erotica. Most nudist fiction seeks to "desexualize" nudity, this book celebrates the sensual pleasures of female nudity - while always using the word naked instead of nude. I had reviewed another book by this author. This one is far superior in my view.

A very nice book that is everything the author has said it would be, having followed the author on a couple mailing lists, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it, and will be looking at getting some of the other books this author has written.

nice novel in the BSC series

Good story, with a very interesting development about the main character, a girl who checks in one week late at BSC because of other commitments. She has to adapt to BSC rules while the other students have already confronted to the rules, and more or less endorsed/enforced them. She learns (very fast, and very effectively) about the importance of relief, about presenting, and the author devotes lots of efforts to describing how she overcomes acquired (and socially constrained) behaviors about female modesty. The story describes the last day before leaving for BSC, the journey towards BSC, and the first two days at BSC. The originality in this novel relates to the description of the main character's psychology towards self-fulfilment and self-confidence when she has to cope with living naked in a CMNF environment. The author advocates about the role of female nudity, and stresses the importance of female sexuality in the path towards blossooming as top level confident executives. Readers interested in the BSC framework will be somehow puzzled with Ardor's story as it is more into the m-sub perspective as it was, for instance, in Katie Irwin's version of BSC. A very good novel, I enjoyed it very much...

Valuable information on living with less

I wanted to read a book about minimalist living and getting by with less money. I am glad I got this one. The author makes you realize that being happy doesn't necessarily having lots of stuff and money. I like the approch he used to get into the subject of living on a minimal budget and being able to differentiate between your basic needs, stuff that you can't live without and useless stuff that we don't even realize we buy and not really need them. I especially like the chapter on how to dramatically cut costs. There were interesting suggestions. Well written book, well worth reading if you are interested in the subject of minimalism living.

Living Without Money is a pretty interesting topic to talk about. I mean who doesn't need money anyway, there is no such thing as free today. Quite literally if you plainly look into the title of this book you'll definitely be asking a big question but the content of this book has an extremely profound explanation of having more and needling less.

To sum up the concept it boils down to being content regardless of how much you have, because in the real world there will never be enough unless you stop asking for more.

needs or wants? this book is good for all of us

In our world today, money seems to be the reason why we live. We can't live without money and this has been the reason why we work hard and also buy hard. We forgot that money come and go if we don't know how to save our earnings. It is important to know what are our needs and now more on our wants, if we really want to save money. It's easy to say, I know, but come to think of it, do we really need the things we bought? or we just want to have them because it's what is "in" nowadays? It is important for us, especially today, to know the importance of why we work hard, it is to earn and save money for our future so in case we need some emergency money, we have it and not borrow from others. These things are what we will learn after reading this book. It is important to instill in our minds that the basic necessities - food, shelter, medicines, and health - are what we need and not the wants (having owned more than one).

Pretty perfect

I bought this book mostly for my own enjoyment, as I like to play sacred music but feel like hymns are a bit old-fashioned for my taste. I don't ordinarily play in church but would gladly perform one of these for a special program if asked. (Deciding which one would be difficult though.) I think this book is pretty perfect. It's exactly what I wanted it to be. Not only is it a great selection of songs, the arrangements are really, really lovely. I can't be sure, but I think I heard an angel sigh as I was playing.

I would categorize the title arrangement as truly advanced and the only one in this book that intimidates me. Elements such as parallel octaves and sixteenth-note triplets require deft fingers. You can find a clip of someone playing this piece on the Internet. Without a doubt, this is the showstopper of the book. The remaining arrangements are far more accessible, if not quite so impressive. This doesn't mean they are easy, by any means. There are parts like arpeggios and chords played in rapid succession that might require a bit of practice to master. However, none of the pieces aside from the title arrangement are dauntingly difficult, even for a late intermediate player. And they all sound very good. Needless to say, the better your skills, the better they will sound.

The one-star review here baffles me. Yes, it is true there are major portions in minor keys. This happens in exactly ONE song in this book, "How Deep the Father's Love For Us." The minor-key switch occurs in the middle of the arrangement and gives that section a haunting, rather Gothic tone. I feel like it provides a quite beautiful detour from the dull and conventional. If one found it strange, they could just change it to a major key or omit that section or maybe choose a different song. It certainly does not merit a disparagement of the entire book. Did the reviewer even attempt to play any other songs?

The only other possibly "weird" thing that happens in this book is in "Lord, Reign in Me," which has an odd "bluesy" section. Although this is really fun to play (the whole book is a lot of fun to play, actually), it seems rather disconnected from the rest of the song. This is the only arrangement I don't completely love, but it's still not bad.

Although many of these arrangements contain artistic flourishes, the melody always shines through very clearly. But even if listeners don't recognize a song right away (I would have to say most likely either through being unfamiliar with the song or really poor at song recognition) they aren't going to complain about being subjected to such beautiful, reverential music. I'm not sure what more one could expect from a book of piano praise and worship solos. The only thing that could make it better is if the spirit of Mozart were to leap out of the book and possess the person playing. That would be frowned upon in the Christian world, however.

Beautiful and Timeless

The arrangements in this book are based on praise and worship songs that will stand the test of time. I have played every one of them in a church service. Church and choir members ask over and over again when I will play this arrangement of "In Christ Alone". I have a few arrangements of "Breathe" and this one is the most beautiful. If church/choir members do not recognize the song ("How Deep the Father's Love For Us"), they always come ask me what it was and compliment the arrangement. They are all playable, even for the intermediate advanced pianist!

Thrilling and amazing arrangements

I have found these arrangements to be unusual and highly inspirational. Right now I am working up the title piece "In Christ Alone" and "How Deep the Father's Love for Us". The latter is definitely a stretch since it takes a piece which is a seldom-used time signature, 5/4, and puts part of it into seven flats, but it is so gorgeous that every practice is a profound worship experience for me, and I can't wait until I have it to the point where I can play it in church.
Pianists who are looking for straightforward arrangements with easy key signatures and predictable chording won't find them here. These are lush arrangements full of rich harmonies. The "weird" minor keys mentioned scornfully by another reviewer are a perfect complement, in my opinion, for the intense feeling embodied in lyrics: for example, in "How Deep the Father's Love for Us," the "weird minor" frames the verse "How great the pain of searing loss./The Father turns His face away/As wounds which mar the chosen One/Bring many sons to glory." The choice of key here is brilliant. I am besotted by these arrangements. They are running through my head day and night. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work up such beautiful and worshipful music. Thank you, Marilynn Ham.
These arrangements are definitely at the Advanced level for the amateur pianist, but they are accessible with practice and seldom involve chords of more than an octave--a definite plus for someone like me who doesn't have a large stretch of the hand.

Chuck Amuck: The Life and Times of an Animated Cartoonist is a sort of autobiography of Chuck Jones, the brilliant Warner Brothers animator who created such enduring characters as Wile E. Coyote and Marvin the Martian. Like his best cartoons, Jones skips around to the fun parts, giving a bit of childhood here, a few words of drawing advice there, and a good yarn wherever one fits. Jones also manages to work in a detailed yet somehow never boring description of the long and silly process of making a cartoon. Jones is refreshingly generous about spreading credit around to others. He fondly remembers art teachers, tips his hat to fellow directors and mentors Friz Freleng and Tex Avery, and gives the reader a new appreciation of the layout men who create the backgrounds for animated features. Most engaging are Jones's accounts of office life at Warner Brothers, which sounds like just as much fun as you hope it would be. Jones recounts stories of drawing tables wired to wake up sleeping animators when the boss approached and Cal Howard, a gag writer who ran an illegal commissary out of his metal-lined desk. The book is filled with sketches and color plates of much-loved moments from Warner Brothers cartoons and even includes a quick Road Runner and Coyote scene that comes to life when the pages are flipped. A Must Read for Fanatics

Never have I been more drawn-in (no pun intended) to an autobiography more than this one. The Man lives up to his legend. I've always been purely fascinated by his style, his sarcastic humor, his satire. Even from a very young age, if I saw his name anywhere in the credits, my eyes were glued to the screen. Not surprisingly, I purchased and finished this read the same day. I couldn't put it down.
If you're a fan of his work, of comedy, of classic animation, READ THIS BOOK. An art professor would do very well to recommend this read to any of his students. And for those of you, like me, who just purely appreciate his art, it's a peek at the man behind the icons we love. These cartoons are him and his teams' inside jokes and we are all in on it now. It's an amazing read. Don't skip it.

A master, in his own words.

I will make mine the words of some other critics: many of the things on this book are not factual. not the truth as some would say. but it does not need to be. It's the world view of a man who entertained the world through rabbit, ducks and road runners. the view of a man who shaped entires generations with his cartoons. a man who made worlds of make-believe, its only fitting that his world view would be of make-believe also.

Must-have for animation fans!!!!

This book is a must-have for fans of not just Warner Bros. animation, but animation period. This book is an autobiography written by Chuck Jones, one of the most popular animators of all time. The book records his early childhood to his later years around he wrote this book. He reveals what happened during the Golden Age of Animation at Warner Bros. and includes a great deal of his own humor.
The book was in good condition with some of the sentences are highlighted, which might mean it was a study book. Overall this book is great and fans of classic animation should purchase it.
